Research Interests:
Remote sensing models for estimating ecological parameters in marine waters.  Applications include satellite estimations of phytoplankton size-structure, bacterial activities, phytoplankton biomass, and penguin distributions.
Optical measurements using Gliders for monitoring long-term climate variability.
Underwater light models in shallow waters. The main approach is focused in Monte Carlo modeling in 2 and 3-D.
Lidar (laser range and detection) and Radar measurements of biological features in marine waters. I am particularly interested of how microlayer biological communities affect radar backscattering signature. Also, how Lidar or laser-like signal can be used to retrieve parameters of biological meaning.

Projects:
I am part of the Palmer Long-term Ecological Research program in the Western Shelf of the Antarctic Peninsula. I am responsible of the remote sensing component.
