Research Interests:
My thesis research is focused on a group of ocean particles known as
marine snow. Marine snow forms from the flocculation and aggregation of marine
detritus, colloids, and organic matter. In general, marine snow is
charatcerized as aggregates larger than .5 mm. I am currently exploring the
formation of agggregates in the lab, under low levels of turbulence. Marine
snow is regarded as one of the primary mechanisms for carbon export from the
surface to the deep ocean.
I have a more informative student webpage that goes into a bit more detail about my interests; oceanography and otherwise.
