Data Acquisition and Control

All of the flumes are controlled by a PC-based process and data acquisition system, Camile 2000, which was originally developed by the Dow Chemical Corporation. Parameters such as paddle speed (racetrack flume), rotation speed and direction (annular flumes) and temperature are controlled through this system, and can be programmed to vary over time (for example, to simulate a tidal cycle or events such as temperature excursions). Data such as temperature, motor set points and other parameters from user-specified sensors can be logged to a designated ASCII file at intervals set by the user.
