Remote Environmental Monitoring UnitS (REMUS)
REMUS is an unmanned, autonomous underwater research vehicle that is used to explore the underwater environs within the JCNERR. REMUS is used by researchers within the JCNERR to create a three dimensional map of the estuary bottom. This data can be used to determine fish habitat, sediment transport, and underwater bed forms.
REMUS surveyed Areas in JCNERR REMUS surveys have been completed adjacent to the buoy 126 SWMP site in Great Bay NJ. Additional surveys are being conducted within Great Bay, Little Egg Harbor, and the Mullica River.
