Chlorophyll a Data

Chlorophyll a image   The chlorophyll a data were acquired from web pages originally associated with Bookhaven National Laboratory's Division of Oceanographic and Atmospheric Sciences. The web pages and many of the scientists are now at the Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, Rutgers University, as part of the Ocean Primary Productivity Team. The image displayed here was created by this group, including Mike Behrenfeld and Paul Falkowski. The data were acquired as monthly averages of chlorophyll a.

The chlorophyll a data were originally obtained from NASA's CZCS (Coastal Zone Color Scanner), which operated from November 1978 to June 1986. Further information about this data set is available online.

Export image   This image was created by M. Behrenfeld, P. Falkowski, and their associates. This is a global map of annual mean export of photosynthetic carbon in gC per meter squared. This figure and details of the model used to produce it can be found in the following publication:
